Session Briefing

The Chaplain serves as the keeper of the “traditions” of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the tradition of moral excellence, the tradition of our Ritual and Guide.  An effective Chaplain understands the value of the Ritual as a teaching tool that reinforces the shared values and aspirations of Sigma Phi Epsilon.  Furthermore, a Chaplain must earn the respect of the membership as he presides over the Standards Committee and seeks to enforce accountability among the membership.  This role in upholding chapter membership standards should be viewed as a positive by the chapter and the responsibility not only of the Standards Committee, but of the entire membership.  Upon joining Sigma Phi Epsilon, a man vows to uphold high ideals and commit to a higher standard of living.  Finally, he recognizes members who live up to our shared ideals and works with the Standards Committee to determine appropriate action when we stray from our Oath.
